Uxbridge 1 remain top of the league

A weakened Uxbridge 1st team beat West Herts 3-2 to pick up 15 points and stay in top as Cumberland suffered two defeats to strong Hazlewood and Charing Cross sides.

First on Sam Miller took apart Tim Burrell to 7 points whilst Gurbaj Khalon kept the crowd entertained by fighting back to defeat Lee Rossiter 3-1 in a high tempo game with lots of nicks and banter.

Harry Carr, limping with a groin strain, went down 3-0 to the experienced Gary Raw followed by a 3-1 defeat for Phil Taylor against West Herts captain Tim King, leaving the match balanced at 2-2.

There was however never any doubt that Ben Hedger would win the decider, comfortably putting away Darren Withey 3-0 at 3rd string.

Giving away 36 years to Ben, Darren’s class was no match for Ben’s speed and athleticism and the game was wrapped up very quickly to secure the win for Uxbridge.

Two more victories will give Uxbridge a good chance of reclaiming the title. The next match is away at Cumberland, before Hazlewood visit Uxbridge on Monday 19th February. The season concludes with two more tough fixtures away at Paddington and Charing Cross.
